Then
- The business started life, over a century ago, as a traditional firm of Edinburgh Chartered Accountants, providing the basic compliance services and general advice to a range of clients.
- The office was based in the city centre until 1988 when the move was made to a modern office with dedicated parking on the west side of Edinburgh and space for around 20 staff.
- In 2003, the firms of Byers & Co and Helen M Oliver were merged into the practice.
- A personalised advisory service.
Now
- Top Thirty Scottish Practice.
- One of the largest independent practices in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
- Not so much a firm of Chartered Accountants but rather Business and Personal Advisers.
- A team of 40 people operating from two locations in Roseburn and Corstorphine.
- Incorporated on 1st August 2007 as Johnston Smillie Ltd.
- Firm of Ian Nicholson CA merged into the practice from 28th, July 2007.
- Still a personalised advisory service.
